Shoulder Treatment

Treatments we offer

We offer a wide range of physiotherapy treatments and your physiotherapist will advise on how best to manage your condition. We have close links with orthopaedic specialists, podiatrists, radiologists and local GPs so if onward referral is required, we will be only too happy to facilitate this for you.

At Cheshire Physio we understand that everyone is an individual and your condition is unique to you regardless of the cause. You deserve to feel as fit and healthy as possible; now and in the future. Our priority is to diminish your discomfort and to improve your wellbeing in as short a time as possible. We will take time to fully explain in an understandable way what will be involved in your personal treatment plan.

We aim to help you understand the cause of your problem and, following successful treatment, to help prevent reoccurrence. We will also work with you to identify work and life style issues, which impact on your physical condition and identify actions, which will improve your situation.

With your permission we liaise with other medical practitioners and consultants to give an interactive and comprehensive package of care.

Treatment methods we use

Core physiotherapy treatments are practised with an emphasis on a ‘hands on’ approach, using massage and manipulation.

Your treatment may also include the use of the following modalities:

  • Massage helps relieve muscle tension and prepares the area for further joint mobilisation techniques. Working on very tender trigger points within the muscle can ease pain and relax the muscles associated with neck and back pain.

  • Manipulation is used to restore normal joint mobility either in the spine or peripheral joints. This can be graded quite gently or more vigorously depending on the nature of the condition and on the individual.

  • Acupuncture is used in conjunction with conventional treatment to help with pain relief. It can also be used as a support to your general wellbeing.

  • Electrotherapy such as ultrasound, interferential, megapulse, shockwave therapy or tens.

  • Exercise therapy can play a key role in rehabilitation, enabling patients to manage their own condition.

  • Injection therapy is administered by highly skilled therapists on site and with the co-operation of your GP. Common areas for injection are the shoulder; for frozen shoulder, or rotator cuff tendonitis, tennis elbow, osteoarthritis, plantar fascitis, tenosynovitis.

  • Shockwave therapy treats various problems within soft tissue areas which have proved resistant to more conventional treatments, such as tennis elbow, Achilles or patella tendonitis and plantar fascitis.

  • Pilates is offered on a one-to-one session from a Physiotherapist who is a qualified Pilates instructor.
