Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT)

ESWT is based on Lithotripsy, which has been used for many years in the treatment of kidney stones. It is the delivery of high-energy shockwaves through the tissues that are capable of breaking down calcific deposits. It has now been adapted to treat various problems within soft tissues, which have proved resistant to more conventional methods of treatment.

Conditions, which are appropriate, are calcification of supraspinatus, tennis elbow, Achilles
tendonitis, plantar fascitis
and patellar tendonitis.

It is a useful option when all
else has failed, physiotherapy,
injections or even surgery.
